🌐 AUTMHQ: Connecting Technology to Diversity

In the previous edition, we talked about refreshing and renewing ourselves, our knowledge, and our skills every so often, and the same is true for brands. Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) announced last year that we were rebranding with a new corporate logo, acronym, and social media handles from autmtx to autmhq. We dropped the "tx" because we didn't want our location to be displayed in our name. This is due to the rapid global expansion that has transpired ever since. We've also been revamping our communications in order to better connect with the global audience. It is critical that we are recognized and remembered so that when the need to create diversity and inclusion in the tech workplace arises, AUTMHQ comes to mind to assist with workforce development, recruitment, employee retention, culture creation, and more. Our mission, as you know, is to bridge the gap between the Black and Hispanic communities and the technology industry by assisting with job placement, career development, and n etworking opportunities. The vision of AUTMHQ is to see a greater representation of the Global Majority working, developing, and using technology, as well as to lead diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the tech ecosystem. In a simple phrase: we connect technology to diversity. The truth is that none of this is possible without the help of our partners, volunteers, and your donations. We want to encourage you to become the movement and help AUTMites earn the credentials they need to find a better job in technology and become self-sufficient. As an outcome, the technology industry will be reshaped into a more inclusive field where everyone... everyone... is welcome! That is the end goal. ReThink Austin 2022: Proof of the Importance of Technology Access

Austin, TX – Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) in collaboration with Harlem Labs recently presented ReThink Austin 2022 for the fourth time this year. The theme for 2022 was "Leading by Action," and it featured powerful leaders discussing topics around technology, entrepreneurship, community impact, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Every topic of discussion, whether it was space technology, NFT, entrepreneurship, or anything else, emphasized the role of technology in our daily lives, which is why this petition must be signed.

Black Americans hold 7% of positions within the lucrative and ever-growing technology industry. Examples of progress? Within the past five years, Facebook has increased Black women hired by 25% and Black men hired by 10%. While Facebook’s numbers are nowhere near where they should be, the shared stories matter.
