AUTMHQ UPDATES Hola and Hello, Paty!
When you hear that Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) bridges the gap between the Black and Hispanic communities and the tech industry, what comes to mind? The truth is that "bridging the gap" has a simple meaning: to connect two things or to reduce the distance between them. As a result, AUTMHQ connects the tech industry with underrepresented individuals interested in pursuing a career in this sector. AUTMHQ is committed to equipping these communities while also collaborating with partners such as tech companies, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and institutions to provide opportunities to these individuals and families. We are also advocating for a more inclusive environment in this field, as this will strengthen the technology industry's success in our world. You can join the movement that is bridging the gap by signing our Texas Technology for All petition, which aims to provide low-income Texans with high-speed internet access and dependable devices. This is a significant first step! The petition currently has 2,300 signatures (200 signatures away from our end goal). Although our petition's goal has nearly been met, we still need to collect 2,500 signatures to proceed to the next step. Follow this link to show your support for Texans; it only takes one click! Let's keep working together to bridge the gap! Paty Sesma VP of MarCom at AUTMHQ

Why It Makes Sense to Have More Diversity in Tech
By Marc Berman
Despite the fact that diversity has become an increasingly important topic for businesses, the notion is still quite theoretical and has potential for improvement, especially in the areas of technology and innovation. There is obviously more work to be done as studies continue to highlight the disparities between men and women in the tech industry, with men being four times more likely to get jobs in tech and earn significantly more than women, and with just a hair over 7 percent of women landing executive roles, with less than 7 percent of that being women of color. Given that by 2031, coloured people will make up the vast majority of the population in areas like Canada, it’s high time for this effort to get underway if it hasn’t already.
