AUSTIN—(January 10, 2022)—Dev10, Genesis10’s Talent Creation program, is partnering with Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) to help further AUTMHQ’s mission of bridging the gap between the Black and Hispanic communities and the technology industry through job placement, career development, and networking opportunities.
Recruiting and deploying locally, Dev10 immerses local, high-aptitude college graduates and new professionals in a three-month technology training program. Hundreds of Associates have completed the training and are working as Genesis10 consultants or as employees of Dev10’s clients in industries such as banking and financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, and retail.
"AUTMHQ is diversifying the tech industry by creating career paths for Black and Hispanic communities and removing barriers to success. Formalizing a partnership with Dev10 allows us to delve deeper into software and big data technology, and broadens our impact. This opportunity allows us to collaborate with experts in workforce development," said Michael Ward Jr., President and CEO of Austin Urban Technology Movement, AUTMHQ.
“We believe a diverse and inclusive tech workforce fosters innovation and creativity, producing digital products and services that keep pace with the needs of an evolving customer base. Dev10 creates a pathway—through immersive training, job placement and coaching—for those without the academic credentials to start a tech career,” said Angelia Brekke, President of Dev10. “Fifty-four percent of Dev10 Associates identify with a diversity group.”
In addition to hiring from a broad set of educational backgrounds which dramatically increases the diversity of its candidate slate, Dev10 removes financial barriers that put a tech career out of reach for many, including underrepresented populations, job changers who typically have family and other financial responsibilities and recent college graduates in non-IT majors who hold significant student loans, by paying for the training and by providing a salary to the students during training as well.
Dev10 Associates receive 14 weeks of classroom training from instructors with real-world experience in one of three tracks: Java, .NET or Data Professional.
One cohort of Dev10 Associates is currently training in Java in Austin, Texas, with four more cohorts planned for this year.
